DC Meets Looney Tunes

DC Meets Looney Tunes – Spoiler-free review ( by and large ). Why recapitulation this book ? I have no idea. 😂

I know I read it because I was curious about the Batman history. It was super hype and I decided to give this a go 🤷🏽‍♂️ As to the answer for my question…why review this ? Well, let ’ s be honest….I doubt this would get reviewed here, but I had some time to kill on Sunday. In summation, this is technically an inter-company crossover. DC Meets Looney Tunes – Spoiler-free review ( by and large ). Why review this book ? I have no estimate. 😂

I know I read it because I was curious about the Batman story. It was superintendent hype and I decided to give this a go 🤷🏽‍♂️ As to the answer for my question…why review this ? Well, let ’ s be honest….I doubt this would get reviewed here, but I had some prison term to kill on Sunday. In summation, this is technically an inter-company crossover. I know it ’ s not another crossover voter with Marvel, but this is the moment best thing, right ?

Structure – The book contains a serial of specials that were released in the summer of 2017. The entitle says it all ; the book pairs DC characters with Looney Tunes characters. chiefly, we get Batman with Elmer Fudd ( by Tom King ) ; Jonah Hex with Yosemite Sam ( by Jimmy Palmiotti ) ; Wonder Woman with the tasmanian Devil ( by Tony Bedard ) ; Lobo with Road Runner ( by Bill Morrison ) ; martian Manhunter with Marvin the Martian ( by Frank Barbiere & Steve Orlando ) ; and the Legion of Super-Heroes with Bugs Bunny ( by Sam Humphries ). however, true to crossovers, other ( DC and Looney Tunes ) characters do pop up every now and then.

Each special features a 20-ish page ‘ DC-style ’ story and an 8-ish page ’ Looney Tunes-style ’ story. broadly, the DC story is ‘ game ’ and features more naturalistic art, while the Looney Tunes report is ‘ sillier ’ and a bite more cartoonish in the artwork department. Ah, and I can ’ thyroxine remember if both stories were written by the same generator, but the writers I ’ ve listed above were decidedly in charge of the DC stories.

Quick thoughts –
* Batman/Elmer Fudd. DC Story 7/10 and Art 7/10 / / / Loony Tunes Story 4/10 and Art 4/10 Really the argue why I bought this book. And yeah, it ’ sulfur good. I can see why people rated it higher than the early stories. In terms of write ( and possibly evening in terms of the art ), I ’ d say it decidedly stands out above the stay. But I besides thought it was a bit overhyped 🤷🏽‍♂️
* DC – Tom King ’ randomness fib is about revenge. It ’ s a noir thriller starring Fudd and Bruce Wayne, who seem to have been caught in a sleep together triangle with Silver St. Cloud. There ’ randomness a bit of a…let ’ s call it “ misunderstanding ” that creates some conflict and you see a few clever panels with Batman and Fudd trying to understand what the heck is happening. We see some cameos from a few characters, like Bugs and Sylvester, for example. One thing I will say is that I powerfully disliked having to read how Fudd speaks – and please don ’ t mischaracterize what I mean hera 😉. One thing is to listen to the character speak in the cartoons and another one is to have to read his negotiation. Btw, note that King won an Eisner for Best Writer that class and, while it wasn ’ t entirely for this work, I believe this return was listed as one of the reasons for his gain.
* The short story is a tribute to the Rabbit/Duck gag season. Clever, but overall, just approve.

* Jonah Hex/Yosemite Sam. DC Story 6/10 and Art 6/10 / / / Loony Tunes Story 4/10 and Art 5/10
* DC – I actually enjoyed this one a spot more than the Batman history, though it ’ s not ampere adept. here we get a Western in which Sam ends up finding gold in a mine and hiring Hex as his bodyguard. Rooster-man Foghorn Leghorn besides plays an significant function in the fib as a person who is part of a traveling circus. I liked it…nothing groundbreaking, but it was more entertaining to me than Batman ’ sulfur. besides, check out the mental picture I attached of some packing 🥊
* In the short narrative we get Sam and Hex again, but this time they go against a hat-wearing bear. We besides get a Bugs cameo.
* Wonder Woman/Tasmanian Devil. DC Story 6/10 and Art 6/10 / / / Loony Tunes Story 4/10 and Art 6/10
* I think this one was my front-runner of the bunch. Again, not the best report, but my favorite one, however. Diana faces Taz, a giant she ‘ defeated ’ binding in the day while in a trial inside the Labyrinth of the Minotaur. When Diana and Themyscira are in trouble in confront day, Diana requests of Taz ’ s aid, who agrees to help. My only complaints hera are that a ) I wanted to see more of Taz ’ s world and bacillus ) I was left wanting more. I wouldn ’ metric ton mind seeing more of this Taz in a future WW history. The art was approve – not excessively detailed, but had an innocent feel to it, which I liked.
* The short report is an rendition of the Illiad and I found this precisely equally bore as the actual Illiad.
* Lobo/Road Runner. DC Story 5/10 and Art 6/10 / / / Loony Tunes Story 4/10 and Art 6/10 / / / Potential 10/10
* If the previous floor was my favored, this one is about the one that had the most potential. In this sci-fi floor, we see scientists at Acme Laboratories use extraterrestrial being deoxyribonucleic acid to evolve a few test animals. The main animal featured in the floor is The Coyote. As usual, he ’ mho trying to rid himself of the Road Runner until he gives up and requests the aid of a huge astronomic bounty hunter, the main man himself, Lobo. This one quickly devolves into the usual Coyote-Road Runner report and features some lighter tones. We besides get a green Lantern Corps cameo in the fib. I think they wasted an opportunity with this one. You could still have a like narrative, while besides trying to play around with the more mature ‘ sentient monster ’ plot that they spent meter bring in and didn ’ thymine explore promote.
* The short circuit history is about Bugs pestering Lobo to fulfill his contractual obligations. MeH.

* Martian Manhunter/Marvin the Martian. DC Story 6/10 and Art 7/10 / / / Loony Tunes Story 6/10 and Art 610
* Marvin arrives on Earth and tries to destroy it. It ’ s up to the Manhunter to precent this from happening. I must say that while I disliked the Bugs/Legion of Superheroes crossover ( more on this following ) for being besides cockamamie, I actually liked this matchless.
* The short floor is more of the lapp, but in the other style.

* Legion of Super-Heroes/Bugs Bunny. DC Story 2/10 and Art 4/10 / / / Loony Tunes Story 4/10 and Art 410
* This one is a sarcasm about the Legion of Super heroes…Bugs is brought into the future ( alternatively of Superman ) to assist in saving Supergirl. 💤 😴 This one took me a few tries to finish. It was boring to me and the jokes didn ’ triiodothyronine particularly land. Bugs is my darling Looney Tunes character, but golly, this was a scuff to finish. Boring, predictable, and besides pathetic for my like. If you like golden Age comics, you might appreciate this one a lot more than I did. It besides doesn ’ t help that I ’ ve never been adoring of the Legion of Superheroes.
* The short floor is besides more of the same. Both stories felt like Looney Tunes stories, actually.

So, should you read it ? Well, it ’ mho obviously up to you. I think that die-hard Looney Tunes fans would like it. And besides folks who liked Golden Age comics. Others may just enjoy the Batman/Fudd fib, so there may be some stuff here for everyone. This international relations and security network ’ metric ton excessively deep. It international relations and security network ’ thymine Morrison, or Jones, or Moore doing something brainsick, but most of the stories were creative and tied to be fun.

Overall, this is a 5/10 ★★★★★ ☆☆☆☆☆ This book international relations and security network ’ triiodothyronine for me. I like watching the cartoons and I love the giddiness of it all, but save for a few exceptions ( i.e., Taz, what King did ), this fell bland.

PS – A quick note is that while the DC characters surely have their own voice, which we have heard in movies and television by now, the Looney Tunes voices are more singular in that they have a identical specific voice. When I read these stories, even when the Looney Tunes characters surely looked unlike, I couldn ’ triiodothyronine help oneself but hearing how they are “ supposed ” to sound.
