park Arrow first appeared in 1941 as a champion in the Batman mold but with a twist – superhero billionaire Oliver Queen wore a costume evocative of Robin Hood .
Green Arrow Rebirth 2016 001 Textless He was a democratic anthology character in the Golden Age, so much so that green Arrow continued to appear through the 1950s – by and large a barren period for comics. As a result, Oliver Queen was one of the few heroes outside of DC ’ s trio to not be re-cast as a raw character with the arrival of the Silver Age in the recently 1950s.

green Arrow began the Silver Age as member of Justice League of America, but his popularity reached fresh levels when redesigned by Neal Adams in The Brave and the Bold # 85 and then transformed into a more socially-conscious hero by Denny O ’ Neil, culminating in his fabled ladder in Green Lantern / Green Arrow .
It wasn ’ thyroxine until after Crisis on Infinite Earths that Green Arrow merited his own ongoing series, which elevated him to a major starring role he has occupied ever since .

If you ’ re newfangled to green Arrow there are just a handful of ideal starting points for you. You probably don ’ t need to begin delve into his Golden and Silver Age appearances, which continue through 1987 .
For a drawn-out and well-collected scat, you can either begin immediately post-Crisis with Longbow Hunters and Mike Grell ’ s drawn-out streak on Arrow ’ mho 1988 ongoing. Or, you can start with his 2001 relaunch by Kevin Smith, which continued for several years under a number of authors .
alternately, there are two newer points where you can jump in. Jeff Lemire ’ s run during New 52 was wide acclaimed and matches well with the tone of latter seasons of the Arrow television receiver show ; it makes very little reference to the 16 issues that preceded it. Or, you can start with Benjamin Percy ’ s Rebirth run that began in the summer of 2016, which is aware of the influence of the television indicate but more grounded in the tone of Arrow ’ s 80s and 90s comics .
