“ Oh my god, you kidding me ? ! ” Farrell said rhetorically when asked if he ’ five hundred fun Penguin on the big screen again in “ The Batman ” sequel. “ It ’ s so much fun, are you joking [ with ] me ? I ’ ve been around the blockage man. That was an easily fun, I mean… it was a joy. ”
Farrell continued about the sequel, “ Matt ’ s up to his bollocks, you know, hovering over the keyboard and just planning the report because he ’ randomness just therefore meticulous. He ’ s so obsessive about what he does, but he ’ randomness all over [ HBO Max ’ s ] Penguin [ series ] as well. I mean, he ’ s not gon na direct it but he ’ south all over the structure of the scripts and who ’ s gon na direct them. And indeed, it ’ second exciting. ”

The actor ’ s modern Apple TV+ science-fiction series “ Sugar ” kicks off production this month and will extend into the fall, hence the delay on filming the Penguin series. Farrell can presently be seen in Ron Howard ’ second rescue drama “ Thirteen Lives, ” immediately in theaters and streaming Aug. 5 on Prime Video .
“ The Batman ” opened to rave reviews in March, with Farrell ’ s prosthetics-laden supporting turn as Penguin drawing acclaim. The Warner Bros. let go of grossed $ 369 million in the U.S. and tapped out at $ 770 million cosmopolitan. The studio confirmed in April that Reeves and star Robert Pattinson would return for a second base film.

In Variety ’ s review of “ The Batman, ” headman film critic Peter Debruge singled out Reeves for doing “ something relatively unique here, at least by comic-book-movie standards, ” adding, “ This grounded, frequently barbarous and about three-hour movie noir registers among the best of the writing style, even if — or more competently, because — what makes the film indeed capital is its willingness to dismantle and interrogate the very concept of superheroes. ”
As for Farrell ’ s Penguin serial, the actor had this to say earlier this year when the show was officially announced : “ The world that Matt Reeves created for ‘ The Batman ’ is one that warrants a deeper gaze through the eyes of Oswald Cobblepot. I couldn ’ triiodothyronine be more agitate about continuing this exploration of Oz as he rises through the darkened ranks to become The Penguin. Will be good to get him back on the streets of Gotham for a little madness and a little mayhem. ”
