Re-read ! 06.18.19
What the heck, I was under the depression that the first gear volume was the weakest ( I read up until bulk 5 in 2016 and never finished the floor because I was n’t ready to say adieu ), but with this re-read I have to change my original rating. Up to 4 stars now. It was so beneficial !
Maybe it was because I was felicitous to be back with Gus and Jepperd. Well, happy-sad because this narrative has always affected me. And I might have picked this one up because I ‘m feeling a bit melancholy a well

What the heck, I was under the impression that the beginning volume was the weakest ( I read up until book 5 in 2016 and never finished the history because I was n’t ready to say adieu ), but with this re-read I have to change my original military rank. Up to 4 stars nowadays. It was so good !
Maybe it was because I was happy to be spinal column with Gus and Jepperd. Well, happy-sad because this narrative has always affected me. And I might have picked this one astir because I ‘m feeling a bit melancholic arsenic well.
But it was perfect however. Rediscovering the universe, the characters and the sadness. Reading Lemire again, I needed it.
Original Review :
In a post-apocalyptic world, where about a decade ago an stranger blight killed most of humanness, Gus has lived all his life sentence with his father in the woods. He ‘s cloistered, afraid. You see, Gus is 9 years previous and identical special. Like most kids born after the blight hit, he was born different. He ‘s a human-animal loanblend kid, he has a human body, but with antlers in his head. And although his father loves him very a lot, he tells him stories of people outside of the woods, of evil men and of horrors that do identical bad things to people like Gus. so, when Gus ‘s dad passes aside, he ‘s isolate, frightened, alone, until one day where he encounters two hunters, and a man, Jepperd, who says can protect him. He talks about ‘The Preserve ‘, a recourse for kids like Gus. And then the travel out of the deep woods begins.
Listen, I ‘m intrigue. even though there is not much history nor action so far, Lemire manages to create and build a wonderful, eerie tone and setting in this five issues and I in truth wan sodium know what happens next.
It ‘s decidedly a intrigue scenario, the worldly concern is a damn place and the ambiance is so well-crafted. It seems like the worst of humanness has won and there are lots of elements from the master Mad Max that makes this then creepy to read. besides, the crude artwork of Lemire complements the setting and tone perfectly so far.
Seeing Gus ‘s travel out of the woods, meeting people for the first time and seeing the state of the global is a moment grievous, but I ‘m therefore concerned in the characters, specially Jepperd.
The direction this volume ends and knowing that this serial is completed makes me super excited and curious to keep reading this.
Lemire, you better not disappoint me.
